Join Buzzloaf, a Drone Bee, (AKA a Male Bee) Explains His Only Job (and It’s Not Making Honey)

Meet Buzzloaf: the chillest member of the hive, the poster child for naps, snacks, and zero productivity. While his hardworking sisters are out foraging nectar, making honey, and basically keeping the entire colony alive, Buzzloaf is… well… not doing any of that.

See, as a drone bee, his one and only job isn’t to make honey, build comb, or guard the hive. Nope. His single mission in life is to mate with the queen. That’s it. If you’re imagining a bee bachelor lounging around waiting for The Bachelorette: Hive Edition, you’ve nailed it.

When he’s not on his very exclusive (and very short-lived) date with destiny, Buzzloaf spends his time eating, loafing, and letting everyone else pick up the slack. Think of him as the hive’s unmotivated roommate who doesn’t pay rent but somehow still hogs the snacks.

So the next time you see Buzzloaf, don’t expect a jar of honey in his hand — just expect a goofy grin, an empty plate, and maybe a half-hearted cheer for his sisters who are doing all the real work.
